Diuresis occurs in cold water because blood volume in your torso increases. Blood passes through your kidneys in greater than normal amounts, so your need to urinate is more frequent when you are cold. Negative pressure breathing-breathing from a regulator-also is diuretic. If you feel you urinate excessively when you go diving, don’t worry. You are only normal.
