D. All the above. The moon’s gravitational pull on the earth is the primary force creating the tides. The sun’s influence is about half that of the moon’s and the influence of other heavenly bodies is much less, but still a factor. The distance and relationship between the various celestial bodies as they revolve around each other greatly affect the tides.
